Sigh... another poorly informed legislator wanting to expand the war on drugs to include SD. This time, it's MN Democratic (DFL) Rep. Joe Atkins. His MPR interview is online at minnesota.publicradio.org/displ...alvia/

Re: MN Move to Ban Salvia
Wed, March 12, 2008 - 5:01 PMI read the article and listened to the report. It's a sad deal, all right. Such a bias.
One thing I wonder about is why didn't this politician just buy some himself and try it? And why this emphasis about college and highschool kids doing it all the rage? Why doesn't he do some real investigating instead of just agreeing with whatever bad report he hears that helps his agenda? What about older people that take it? Or people that use it for benefit or no affect? And again, why doesn't anyone follow Maine's lead in regulation? This guy wants $25,000 fine and 1 year in jail for first offense? And it sure is not like LSD. I've never heard of someone breaking into tears for hours after using it. Did they use it a second or third time? How are they now? Who is it? And once again we have a politician using Delaware's experience without checking into the facts, or deliberately distorting or ignoring them if he knows them. I am really ashamed of what kind of leaders this country has nowadays and in the recent past when it comes to drug legislation and criminal law. -

Re: MN Move to Ban Salvia
Wed, March 12, 2008 - 5:59 PM"The drug sells for about $8 per pound, and can be purchased over the Internet or from local producers."
Where the hell do I find it for eight dollars a pound?
I am getting ripped off!
Really bad reporting too obviously -

Re: MN Move to Ban Salvia
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 7:42 PM$8 per pound sounds like it would be a pretty good deal for a grower in Mexico, since Mexican coffee growers only get around 14 cents per kilo for coffee beans. -

Re: MN Move to Ban Salvia
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 9:57 PMon ebay its 500$ a kilo i believe.
These politicians are very very stupid people with agendas. Its to bad.
To want the imprisonment of a fellow human being for using Salvia, is a mind filled with violence and fear, not one of love and understanding. These people are causing much more conflict and suffering on Earth then Salvia EVER has or WILL. Imagine, jail time for wanting to talk to the spirit world, wanting to know more about your future and self, wanting to help yourself, empower your self as a human surrounded in mystery.
The jailers and law enforcers think that it is they who are doing good for humanity by making these laws, when in reality it is the ones who know of magic and spirit in this universe, who must create an existence that is a manifestation of our highest ideals.
25000$ and time spent behind bars is not our highest ideal for man, it is a road to slow self extinction. -
