Does anyone know about any bad experiences / does anyone know if people have become 'stuck' in the extract experience ( as I've heard happen to people taking L$D for example, in negative environs with negative people etc)?
I've sat for one person & doing a sitting for another soon - I setup a good space of course, make sure the person is feeling ok & energetic, has the right intention towards the experience, holds it in a Sacred light etc. But, of course, one never knows how others might react to the Spirit, taken in Powerful extract form..
I guess 'cause the experience is short ( & I find the Spirit to be very loving ), the likelyhood of someone ( psychologically stable & of good intention of course ) having a problem with it is slim?
Any input would be much appreciated!

Re: Bad Experiences?
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 2:38 PMBad experiences can and do occur. Negative aftereffects are generally in the form of post-traumatic stress. I have seen no documented cases of anyone becoming 'stuck' in an SD experience. SD experiences can certainly be life-changing. It is exceedingly rare to have an extremely *bad* reaction to SD (please read the following link) but it can happen. This is a very good argument for an experienced spotter, especially if one has little or no experience with SD.

Re: Bad Experiences?
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 5:12 PMI have been scared by what I learned, and what I perceived... But, I was scared by my feeling when I first smoked weed too.
Eventually I had to go into (like the instructions say) with intention, and openess, and no noises, and no uncomfortable things around.
I was so sweaty and felt like even sand was digging into my skin!
That is, when I had skin...
When I was in it, I felt like I was stuck, but that is the point. I feel stuck in sober land too! -

That's the ticket! Also - with salvia, less can be more. I have found levels 2 through 4 to be most comfortable and favorable for contemplative insight, with little or no fear/dread factor. -

Re: Bad Experiences?
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 5:32 AMYour so right!
I of course, bought levels 1,2, and 5... Did two trips with 1, and then 3 (in the course of a month) with level 5!!! (and one of those in a grave yard).
It was almost painful, the feeling of your body zipping back on.
Environment, and preparation, and yes, a sitter! -

Re: Bad Experiences?
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 5:53 AMThanks for the responses! I had a sitting with a lady friend on the w/en - I was SO worried - thought to myself ( before the ceremony that was going to take place later that day/night - x10 extract ).. why I am I doing this to myself ( providing a sitter service ).. having to deal with someone else & take responsibility.. Well, I guess it's the call to service ( my fellow man/woman ) I've had.. the calling..
Anyway, everything went really well & she broke through, which I'm really glad about. Another convert!

Re: Bad Experiences?
Tue, May 27, 2008 - 6:38 PMI have had a few well not exactly "bad experiences" but what I would characterize as over-the edge-terrifying-OMG-WTF-mind-benders. A common theme is a swirling vortex or a spinning merry go round with hysterical laughing clowns, a play-do taffy pulling machine which I perceived as pulling the core of my being into the taffy for destruction/ego death. I tried SD several times before I felt it and then one time I realized I was in an altered state. Very subtle if you are not paying attention but then WHAM slurp, spin, Eeeeeeeeyowy! I have been a sitter for several SD virgins. Important to have a quiet environment with ambient lighting, minimal distractions (turn off all phones), have some pillows to flop down on. Have the person be calm and relaxed and hopefully they have done some research and have some idea of what to expect from the experience. Other than that remain silent and only speak if the person seems to desire conversation or is losing their shit. In that case try to calm the person with minimal intervention. It is sometimes interesting to tape the session so the person can hear what they were experiencing and providing a link to what transpired in their mind. One common thing I have observed is the WOW effect and frequently laughter. Hope this helps!
Peace, Trance

Re: Bad Experiences?
Tue, May 27, 2008 - 6:42 PMSalvia seems to exhibit a property whereby the more familiar you are with the terrain the easier it is to slip behind the veil and enter the vortex. I need a single large hit of 15x extract to go deep. -

Re: Bad Experiences?
Thu, August 21, 2008 - 10:28 PMI have always found it to be physically uncomfortable. Never has the trip itself been frightening or scary. It just is not a plesant feeling. The closest thing to a bad trip I have had is when I was hilding in my hit I say a park ranger drive by. This caused me to want to stay around to make sure nothing bad happened. During the trip I could feel myself being sucked into the other side but I fought it fearing that bad things could happen to my psysical self while I was gone.
I personally love helping other people to have a posotive salvia expierence. It is quite often entertaining.
